reflection on trebuchet lesson 1

Today we went into the work shop and talked about the trebuchet we will be making. Wardy showed us ways which we can build the trebuchet with pine wood and make it stable.

today i raced my car and it was 3 seconds which I'm very happy about :)

i have designed my vehicle as a mouse so it looks different to the other cars and the vehicles will be chasing after the mouse (hopefully) i have done this by putting cotton balls on it and eyes

in the makings of my car ive been really impressed with my design and am looking forward to the race on monday. My design is a little different to the other as it has the batteries at the bottom of the vehicle and motor at the top. i have taken the tyres off the wheels as it causes the vehicle to move slower from the friction.

The past few weeks in DT we have been making and designing a car which will eventually be used in a race along with the other students in my class. I have really enjoyed this task so far and am excited to see the final result

today we talked about our up coming task, investigating and designing and making a small car using kinetic energy. i am looking forward to doing this task as we did a similar task in year 8 making a remote control car which i really enjoyed.

Reflection

We have now finished our work in making our resorts and have all done our oral presentations about our resort. I really enjoyed this task in Design Technology and look forward to our new task in Pro Desktop and remebering the program from last year.

reflection 5- 20 Wednesday 2013

Amy and i have now finished our mountain, the water and put the sand in. Today we will be finishing our huts and might be putting them into the water.

Reflection 4 - 7 March 2013

Currently in design futures Amy and i have finished doing our mountain with the plaster of paris. We also have roudered the space for where we will put the water. yesterdays lesson we mixed sand with PVA glue and pasted it onto the space below the mountain and near the water. So far our project has been a success and i am looking forward to the finished product

Time management plan

Making lakes, beaches etc and mountains

The first picture is a lake or river etc which can be used in the projects that we are doing. Amy and i have chose to so this in a large space in our project as we have alot of water space. This is done by the router and mixing PVA glue with a small but of blue paint. The send picture is of a mountain which is done by using scrunched news paper and chicken wire covering it. Amy and i will also be doing this in our project as we have a mountain and a water fountain doing down it.

Reflection 3- 22 Feb

Today we went into the work shop and watched Mr Ward show us how to make mountains which Amy and i will be using in our project. You make the mountains with plaster of paris and water which turns into a thick liquid substance. After the substence is applied it takes atleast half an hour for it to dry and dries hard into the shape made.

reflection 2- 6 feb 2013

Yesterday was our first lesson in the work shop. My partner Amy was away so i had to do the work by myself so it was abit more slower than everyone else. What we did was watch Mr Ward on how to make the base of our hotel. What we are usuing for the base is a hard piece of wood, not timber because it needs to be strong and not break. What we did was firstly made sure the piece of wood was square then we put 3 nails on each side of the square. After putting the nails half way it was the end of the lesson so i was unable to put all pieces of long strips of wood to my square of wood. Next lesson i will be putting all strips of wood onto the square and glueing them, then i will sand papaer the sides so everything is smooth and even.

reflection1- 1 feb 2013

Today was our first lesson of Design Technology in year 10. We reflected over what is design technology and also what we will be doing this year. This year we wil be making a hotel that is as good for the enviroment as well as looking effective. I have decided to work with amy and we have already discussed some ideas for the hotel. Some ideas which we have thought of is to have the hotel on a island which will sort of resemble bora bora with huts on the water, we always decided to have a mountain towards the back and also have a waterfall going down the mountain. To make the hotel enviromentally healthy we have ideas of having wind powered energy on top of the mountain where there is most wind and water tanks that will recycle the water use from the hotel.
